Principal's Message

Kia ora Brooklyn Families,

The weather is certainly turning it on for the beginning of week 4! Swimming is a very popular past time at Brooklyn School right now as everyone is feeling the heat.

We are looking forward to seeing you all at this afternoon’s ‘Be at Brooklyn’ initiative where you will get an opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher, check out classrooms and hear what lies ahead in terms of learning for our students. We would also like to encourage you to bring a few dollars down and utilize our Sausage Sizzle which will be taking place under the Ash tree. A perfect way to pass some time and keep your energy levels up as you enjoy the fantastic environment here at Brooklyn.

Last week saw our senior classes visit Kaiteriteri beach for some safety sessions and a massive thank you to the wonderful parents who joined with these groups to support our students on these days.

Also, thank you to those parents who have put their names forward to manage sports teams. We really appreciate this as the teams cannot be entered without you, so get on board if you are still considering it.

Brooklyn hats and tee-shirts are on sale at our school office, just contact Luisa and she will help you get your child into these stylish items.

What a brilliant start we have all had to this year here at our fantastic school. Have an awesome week everyone!

Brooklyn Website and App News

Amanda and Luisa have been busy in the background sorting out the school website, which is still a work in progress but hopefully looking better than it was!

The School board members and teachers have decided to phase out Class Dojo in favour of School Apps which works in better with our school systems, school calendar and school newsletters. The calendar is live, this is kept updated with latest information. Any important events will also be sent by alerts, which will come up on your phone, if you have a school app.

School Apps is used within lots of schools in NZ and has great reviews from their parents. We hope this will work for you just as well.

Please check out the link to install, let Luisa know if you have any problems with the download. https://brooklynmotueka.apps.school.nz/install/

We are hoping in the near future, this will save forms being sent home and lost in school bags, not so many emails being sent out and better communication with you all.
